Bob Rees :: Director

Bob Rees is an experienced venture capitalist with a 25-year track record of forming, incubating, funding, and growing successful young companies. His background also includes operating executive experience in sales, marketing, and strategic planning positions with two Fortune 500 companies (Mobil and Tenneco).

As a Special Limited Partner of Woodside Fund from 1993 to 1999, Bob built a successful investment record including exits for Innova Corporation, Hotrail, and AccelGraphics. Bob and three of his Woodside Fund partners left the firm in 1999 to form Access Venture Partners, an affiliate of Draper Fisher Jurvetson. As a Managing Director of Access Venture Partners until 2004, Bob sourced technology deals in Texas, Colorado, and Oklahoma and syndicated these deals with top-tier venture capitalists in Silicon Valley and elsewhere. At Access, Bob led the firm’s syndication of Dallas-based Cashworks, Inc. which was later sold to General Electric Card Services.

Prior to his venture roles at Woodside Fund and Access Venture Partners, Bob led the successful diversification of Rees/Source Ventures, Inc., a family-owned oil and gas business, through creation of a venture capital investment program. In 1987, he launched the Oklahoma City Innovation Center as Oklahoma’s first privately run business incubator. He also played an active role in helping the state develop its own entrepreneurial and venture capital initiatives, which culminated in the founding of the Oklahoma Capital Investment Board (OCIB) and Oklahoma Technology Commercialization Center (OTCC).

Bob continues as an active board member of QuanTEM Laboratories, one of the Oklahoma companies originally incubated by the Oklahoma City Innovation Center.

At Startup Capital Ventures, Bob serves on the boards of dotFX, WhiteHat Security, and Xignite. He is also a board observer at EzRez Software, Rhaphis Medical, and Think Finance.

Ho Nam :: Director

Ho Nam is a General Partner of Altos Ventures, focusing on investments in the areas of software, digital media, and infrastructure technologies. He currently serves as a director of Accolo, Billeo, Immunet, JS-Kit, SayNow, Telekenex, Trilibis Mobile, and WhiteHat Security. Ho led the firm's prior investments in Axis Systems, Evolve Software, Listen.com, Nishan Systems, Pixo, Provato and Soundpipe. All were deals in which Altos was the lead investor in the first institutional round of funding and achieved exits via IPO or trade sale to public companies.

Before joining Altos Ventures in 1996, Ho worked at Silicon Graphics and Octel Communications. Ho began his VC career at Trinity Ventures in 1990 and began his professional career at Bain & Company where he advised clients in the Semiconductor industry on product and corporate strategy.

Ho received an MBA from Stanford University and a BS in Engineering from Harvey Mudd College.

John Hall :: Director

John Hall is a Managing Director of Horizon Ventures. He has more than 18 years of experience in the venture capital industry. In 1989 he co-founded Newtek Ventures II where he was a General Partner until 1999 when he co-founded Horizon Ventures.

Before becoming a venture capitalist, John had broad experience as a senior financial executive over a 20-year period including Syntex Pharmaceuticals for 7 years as the International Chemical Group Controller and Intel Semiconductors for 4 years as Group Controller of International Operations. He was a co-founder of Cadnetix, a successful EDA software company where he was CFO for 7 years, taking them through their IPO and later participating in the sale of the company for over $300M in 1989.

As a venture capitalist, John has been a member of 18 boards of directors of both private and public companies and currently serves on the boards of three private companies. He holds a B.S. degree in Accounting and Finance and an MBA in Finance from San Jose State University.

Stephanie Fohn :: DirectorFOHN

Ms. Fohn has a broad base of management and entrepreneurial experience, with particular expertise in information security. Most recently, she was president and chief operating officer of SecurityFocus, a provider of enterprise security threat management systems. She led the company to a dominant industry position, resulting in its acquisition by Symantec in August 2002.

Previously, she served as vice president of marketing and business development for Tripwire, Inc. and director of distribution partnerships for Infoseek/Go Network. She also co-founded and led two start-ups - Lucidian Technologies, a developer of network-based intrusion detection software, and The WWWorks, a web development firm focused on e-commerce and database integration.

Ms. Fohn began her career in the security industry as director of business development for Pilot Network Services, Inc., one of the industry's first managed security service providers. Prior to joining Pilot, she spent six years in venture capital and investment banking in the technology arena. Ms. Fohn holds an M.S. degree in management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and bachelor's degrees in business and psychology from University of Washington.

Jeremiah Grossman :: Director

Mr. Grossman founded WhiteHat Security in 2001. Prior to WhiteHat, Mr. Grossman was an information security officer at Yahoo! responsible for performing security reviews on the company's hundreds of websites. As one of the world's busiest web properties, with over 17,000 web servers for customer access and 600 websites, the highest level of security was required. Before Yahoo!, Mr. Grossman worked for Amgen, Inc.

A 8-year security industry veteran, Mr. Grossman's research has been featured in USA Today, NBC, and ZDNet and touched all areas of web security. Mr. Grossman is a world-renowned leader in web security and frequent speaker at the Blackhat Briefings, NASA, Air Force and Technology Conference, Washington Software Alliance, ISSA, ISACA and Defcon.

Mr. Grossman has developed widely used assessment tool "WhiteHat Arsenal", as well as the acclaimed Web Server Fingerprinter tool and technology. Mr. Grossman is a founder of the website Security Consortium (WASC) and the Open website Security Project (OWASP), as well as a contributing member of the Center for Internet Security Apache Benchmark Group.
